Pre-Club Academy (PCA) questions
Pre Club Academy (PCA) was created as a bridge between our recreational Junior Reds Developmental League and our Competitive teams . With player development and progression in mind, PCA invites talented youth soccer players from recreational leagues from the surrounding Orange, Riverside, and Los Angeles counties, as well as the standout performers from our Junior Reds Development League, to work with professional coaches twice a week to cultivate their soccer skills and techniques.

What is PCA & who will be coaching our team?
Pre Club Academy (PCA) was founded to create a bridge between recreational programs and competitive club teams and we invite talented players from local recreation leagues, as well as the standout performers from our Junior Reds, to work with professional coaches
-
2 practices per week - professional coach
-
1 game at the weekend - professional coach
How do I receive an invite?
All players must register to tryout to be evaluated or be evaluated at one of our many camps and clinics throughout the year. Once evaluated, you must complete the tryout registration to be sent an invite to register for the program.
What is the team balancing day?
PCA includes a Pre-season evaluation day, designed to allow each player the opportunity to work with our coaches prior to the season and for us to “balance teams” for the purposes of fair game day competition.
Do you accept friend or team request?
Due to the nature of the program and the need to balance teams, we do not take friend requests for PCA however we can accept complete teams to the program with the approval from the program director.
When are practices held?
• 1 time per week, usually, either: 4:45pm - 6:00pm OR 6:00pm - 7:15pm
This depends on the coach and location. There is a field to request a practice day and time but this is not guaranteed and is not a condition of enrollment nor exception for refunds. Once your child is assigned to a team and the coach is assigned, the roster is frozen.
When/where are the games held?
Games will be played on Saturdays in Irvine, between 8:15am and 4:25pm. Locations are TBD depending on field allocations from the City of Irvine - the schedule will be released by September 1, 2025.
Do we get a new uniform?
Every player will receive a FULL SoCal Reds Capelli Uniform!
What else do we need to play?
Children must wear shin guards and should wear comfortable shoes. Proper soccer shoes (not baseball cleats) are recommended & children should bring water and a soccer ball.
How can we register?
All players must register to tryout in PlayMetrics.
Must we attend the pre-season parents meeting?
Yes. This is where you will receive all relevant information for the season ahead.
I haven’t heard from my coach?
If you haven’t heard from your coach 1 week before the first game of the season, please contact us at recleagues@socalredsfc.com
What about referees?
We work with a referees organization to contract paid referees to undertake all officiating within the league so, unlike other organizations, parents do not have to volunteer. *U8 - U10 games will be refereed by youth referees as part of our SoCal Reds Youth Referee leadership program.
Field closures?
We are guided by the City of Irvine. In the case of inclement weather, the city will update their website by 3:00PM daily. We have no control over field closures.
